January- “Be Like A Child, Be Like Jesus”

Preschool

Child Jesus of Prague School remains committed to the holistic development of your child. This is translated in every event that we conduct, which aims to provide them with meaningful learning experiences geared toward the development of both their intellect and character. With the theme “Be Like A Child, Be Like Jesus” (“Whoever, then, humbles himself like this little child will be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven” – Mt.18:4), students will get the chance to learn more deeply about their Christian faith throughout the month of January. This will be reflected in the daily activities that the children will be immersed in while they are in school.

Moreover, as the highlight for this month, our School community will celebrate the Feast of Sto. Niño on January 20, 2017. This will be held at the CJPS New Building in Calumpang. The morning event from 7:00 – 11:00 am, which is the Sinulog Festivity will be participated by selected Preschool students. The afternoon event at 1:00 pm is open for all Preschool parents and guests. There will be a Thanksgiving Mass and the blessing of the new building will follow after. Please note that there will be no regular classes for the Preschool Department on this day.

For this month of January, the Senior Kindergarten students will learn about animals. Preschoolers love learning about animals of all types, including those that live in the sea. There are many things children can learn through a study of sea animals which include the three big ideas that we will explore with your children in the succeeding weeks:

The Philippine seas are homes to many sea animals

We get food from sea animals

We need to conserve and protect sea animals

Grade School

Here at CJPS, it has always been our advocacy not to lose touch with our past, for it is in remembering the past that we learn the lessons for our future. Every third week of January, Sinulog Festival is observed and celebrated in honor of the Santo Nińo or the Child Jesus. The observance and celebration of the Sinulog in Cebu, and all our other fiestas for that matter, is important because it allows us to keep in touch with events that conspired to make us distinctly Filipino. In relation to this, we wish to inform you that our School community will celebrate the Feast of Sto.Niño on January 20, 2017. This will be held at the CJPS New Building in Calumpang. The morning event from 7:00 to 11:00 am, which is the Sinulog Festivity will be for CJPS students. Then at 1:00 pm, parents and guests are invited to attend the Thanksgiving Mass and the blessing of the new building.

The month of January will also carry the theme: “Be Like A Child, Be Like Jesus “ (Whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. – Matthew 18: 4). The Christian Living and Values Education Subjects across all levels will highlight the virtues of humility, joy, gratitude and simplicity during daily classroom discussions.

Apart from this, the most awaited educational tour of Grades 1 and 2 is set on the last week of this month. We believe that learning should not only be limited to the four corners of the classroom but also extend outside through meaningful educational encounters. Through the scheduled educational tour, students’ curiosity will be nurtured as they achieve a deeper understanding of concepts.

Middle School

We continue our journey through the academic year, with your child’s holistic progress as our primary goal. All year round, values formation is integrated in the daily lessons, across all disciplines. This month, the School, through the Christian Life and Values Education department, will provide diverse and specific activities that will focus on our students’ spiritual and moral facets of development. With the theme “Be Like A Child, Be Like Jesus” (“Whoever, then, humbles himself like this little child will be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven” –Mt.18:4), students will get the chance to learn more deeply about our Christian faith. Classroom-based activities include Bible Quiz Bee and Heroes of Faith, Soldiers of the Cross.

High School

We would like to thank you for supporting once again, our Christmas Drive, which had become a blessing to more than 300 families in Binangonan. May God repay your generosity and kindness.

To start the New Year right, Child Jesus of Prague School will give more focus on your child’s spiritual, moral and social development. This month, the School aims to provide distinct opportunities for our students to enhance their God-given talents through communication, musical and social skills, while promoting the values of gratefulness, truthfulness and humility. With the theme “Be Like A Child, Be Like Jesus (“Whoever, then, humbles himself like this little child will be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven” –Mt.18:4), students will get the chance to learn more deeply about our Christian faith. The activities for this month include the following: Bulletin Board Making Contest, Bible Quiz Bee, and Heroes of Faith, Soldiers of the Cross. Also, the SSG will launch its second fund raising activity, “Honesty Store” (HONESTore), which promotes the value of honesty among the students.

Also, the distribution of the Third Quarter Report Cards will be on the same day, January 20, 2017, from 4:00 to 5:00pm.
