Grandparents’ Day

imageEvery year, the Preschool Department of Child Jesus of Prague School celebrates and acknowledges the role of grandparents and the special relationship they share with their grandchildren by having a Grandparents’ Day.  Through this celebration, CJPS is able to encourage children to think about the value of their grandparents in their lives and encourage them to say ‘thank you’ for the many things that they lovingly do.

This year, CJPS had another meaningful Grandparents’ Day celebration!  Dubbed as Grandparents’ Go Back To Preschool, our preschoolers invited their Lolos and Lolas to spend a day in school with them to experience preschool life once again.  Their day started with morning routines that included saying the morning prayer and singing the National Anthem and School Hymn.  This was followed by Circle Time, where they checked the day’s attendance and completed the calendar and weather.  As the children and their grandparents settled down, the story, “Love You Forever” by Robert Munsch was read to them.  This story is a gentle affirmation of the love a parent feels for his/her child — forever, just like the love that grandparents have for their grandchild.  Afterwards, they were tasked to make a handprint craft together, much to the delight of both the children and their grandparents.  They also spent a few minutes eating snacks and socializing with the other grandparents present.  Of course the day would not be complete without some Music and Movement where they danced to lively tunes like Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes; Chicken Dance and Simple Dance.1a

The highlight of the day was a simple presentation by the children showing just how much they love their Lolos and Lolas.  To show their appreciation, the grandparents showered their apos with hugs and kisses.

Truly, it was a “grand”, Grandparents’ Day celebration!
