CJPS – Sto Niño Feast Celebration

Posted on: Jan 12, 2016

Grade School

As we start the new year, the CLED and Values Education Department will be emphasizing among our students the importance of sharing and appreciating blessings received from God as we celebrate the Feast of Sto. Niño on January 15, 2016. This devotion which has its roots in the beginning of the Christianization of our country is also one of the main features of our popular traditions. Our loving God chose to reveal His Son to the waiting humanity as a vulnerable child. As we gaze at the image of the Infant Jesus and contemplate God’s love that emanates from the face of the child, we also peer into our own helplessness and dependence on the benevolent Father. The Sto. Niño feast is an occasion for Filipino Catholics to gather as one community. Wherever the feast is celebrated, the message is the same – live with child-like appreciation for life’s blessings, simply and humbly. Jesus said: “Whoever does not accept the kingdom like a child will not enter it; whoever humbles himself like a child is greatest in the kingdom of heaven; whoever receives one child in My name receives Me.”

Through our children, may we be reminded to have that child-like obedience and trust in the Father, but let us always have that “adult” compassion for those in need.

Lastly, we would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your unending support to our Christmas Drive last December 2015. Your generosity reached our less fortunate brothers and sisters in our community.

High School

We would like to thank you for supporting once again, our Christmas Drive last December. This had become a blessing to Tahanang Walang Hagdanan and to more than 300 families in Binangonan.  May God repay your generosity and kindness.

To start the New Year right, Child Jesus of Prague School will give more focus on your child’s spiritual, moral and social development. The School aims to provide distinct opportunities for our students to enhance their God-given talents through communication, musical and social skills, while promoting the values of gratefulness and compassion. The following are lined up for this month:

  1. “Igniting One’s Light through Gratitude and Mercy” is the theme of the activities spearheaded by the Christian Life and Values Education Department. These include public speaking, musical presentations, Bible Quiz Bee, Mercy Speaks, setting up a Gratitude Board by each class.
  2. A series of outreach programs to different charitable institutions will be conducted.  Each Grade 10 class will spend a day to mingle with and bring joy to the less fortunate.
  3. The Feast of Sto. Niño will be highlighted on January 15, 2016. Our simple celebration will include a short Catechism, Eucharistic celebration, Sinulog dance to be performed by selected students, and an exhibit and blessing of Sto. Niño images.
  4. The Educational Tour of the Grade 9 and 10 students will be on January 22, 2016. Tour participants will also be expected to accomplish an Activity Sheet on that day. A letter, containing the general reminders for the trip, will be released prior to the day of the tour.
  5. Issuance of the Third Quarter Report Cards will be on January 25, 2016, from 2:00 to 4:00pm at the High School Campus. As usual, your child’s adviser will be available to release your child’s report card at exactly 2:00pm.
