OCTOBER- United Nations Month

Posted on: Oct 6, 2016

Preschool

October is United Nations Month! Your child will be exposed to different classroom-based activities that will focus on the arts and culture of various countries from Asia. This aims to enable your child to learn the value of respect for cultural diversity and to appreciate what makes each culture unique from one another. As a culminating activity on October 28, students will create an artwork inspired by our discussions on the places, people, food and animals from Asia.

Grade School

United Nations Month provides greater opportunity for us to teach and expose our children to the different cultures of the different countries. This is a surefire way to peak their curiosity and provide a segue into a cultural conversation and at the same time learn that despite the many differences people may have, everybody could still live in peace and harmony. The important thing is that you do something to open the door to conversation about the significance of getting along with others who are different and also helping those in need.

More so, October is the month of the Holy Rosary which highlights our devotion to Mother Mary.  This Festivity will lead to inculcating in the hearts of our Catholic students the desire to join Mary and Jesus in the journey of their lives through the mysteries of the Holy Rosary. The highlight of this activity is the Living Rosary.

It is also by this month that we will be issuing the Report Cards for the First Quarter. Through this, you would be able to determine your child’s area of strengths and difficulties and consequently come up with measures to further help him/ her improve.

Middle School

We have so far culminated the English month in which our students have been able to appreciate language as a significant path for unity.

This month, Child Jesus of Prague School will once again give emphasis on the importance of unity as we celebrate the Araling Panlipunan Month. With the theme “Kasaysayan: Saligan ng Diwang Makabayan Tungo sa Pagkakaisa sa Kabila ng Pagkakaiba” , our students will be able to focus and experience the diverse history and cultures of the world through classroom-based activities.  These will eventually lead them to a deeper realization and appreciation of our very own culture and traditions.

Also, on October 11, 2016, the Annual School-wide Emergency Drill will be conducted. The CJPS Emergency Team will spearhead this activity. It aims to rehearse anticipated emergency scenarios such as fire and earthquake. It will provide training, reduce confusion and verify the adequacy of emergency response activities.

Finally, as October is regarded as the month of devotion to the Holy Rosary, Catholic students are expected to participate in the daily prayer as we show our love for Mama Mary. The annual Living Rosary activity will culminate all the events for this month.

High School

Promoting social rights, social progress and world peace is the main reason why everyone should celebrate United Nations Month.

This year, our school will once again be one with the world in celebrating it with the theme “Kasaysayan, Saligan ng Diwang Makabayan Tungo sa Pagkakaisa sa Gitna ng Pagkakaiba.”  It highly emphasizes that there is unity in diversity.  We would like our students to acknowledge and accept cultural diversity whole-heartedly.  In line with this, our activities for this month include the following: Bulletin Board Making Contest, General Information Quiz Bee, Jingle – Making, Trivia Presentation, Interpretative Dance and Singing Contest.   All these activities will be gearing towards the said theme.

As parents, you can be of big help in inculcating in them the value of accepting the differences among people by letting them share what they have to the needy, teaching them to acknowledge the ideas of others and treating everyone fairly regardless of race, religion, culture and tradition.

Aside from these,  CJPS will have its Annual Emergency Drill which will happen on October 11, 2016.  This activity focuses on how the students, teachers and staff protect one’s self during an emergency.

October is also the month of devotion to the Holy Rosary. Catholic students are expected to participate in the daily prayer as we show our love for Mama Mary. The annual Living Rosary activity will culminate all the events for this month.

Also, please take note that our Senior High School students will be having a FEEDING PROGRAM on October 26, 2016. This serves as their culminating activity for the whole semester and aims to let our students share their blessings to others and to value the health of every person in the community.
