SEPTEMBER UPDATES

PRESCHOOL

September is once again upon us and we cannot help but count the days ‘til Christmas!  However, September also means that we are inching a little closer to another special occasion definitely worth celebrating … and that is, Grandparents’ Day!  As you know, Grandparents are important to children in so many ways. They have patience and time when parents are often busy. They have stories to tell and interesting games to play. These are some of the reasons why, the Preschool Department of Child Jesus of Prague School annually celebrates and acknowledges the role of grandparents and the special relationship they share with their grandchildren.

This year, we will have our Grandparents’ Day on September 29, 2018. Dubbed as Groovin in the 90’s, this special day aims:

• to honor grandparents
• to give grandparents an opportunity to show love for their apos, and
• to help children become aware of the strength, information and guidance grandparents can offer.

Throughout this month, the children will be encouraged to reflect on the value that their lolos and lolas bring into their lives, encourage them to say ‘thank you’ and spend time with their grandparents.  Please note that a separate letter will be given with the details of our Grandparents’ Day celebration.

For our theme discussion this month of September, the Senior Nursery students will discuss “People in My Community.” During this topic of study, the children will learn more about the community in which they live with their family and explore these four big ideas about communities:  

1. I live in a community with my family.  
2. People living in communities learn to live, work and play together.  
3. In my community there are people who help keep me safe.  
4. In my community there are people who help keep me healthy.

GRADE SCHOOL

In line with the Grade School Department’s celebration of the English Month, we again, would like to emphasize the importance of being proficient and confident in speaking, reading, and writing in English through the various activities that your child will be exposed to. With its theme: “English Takes Pride: Read, Talk, Write, and Excel”, students will be able to experience and enjoy the classroom-based activities prepared by their teachers like Dicto drill, Textwist, Spelling Quiz Bee, Poem Recitation, Storytelling, Poem and Essay Writing, Intersection Reader’s Theater competition, and English Only Policy.

Aside from the above mentioned activities, please be reminded of the 1st Parenting Seminar on September 8, 2018 at the Calumpang Campus from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm, to be followed by the distribution of the First Quarter Report Cards.

Also, with the concluded Nick Takes Over Your School (NTOYS), Nickelodeon is still asking for your cooperation, support, and generosity until September 28, 2018 for any pre-loved and still useful toys, clothes, and story books of your children for the less fortunate children whom they will visit this CHRISTMAS.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Being able to competently communicate is one of the fundamental indicators of academic success. Child Jesus of Prague School has been unfailingly gearing towards this facet of student excellence through continuous English proficiency program across all disciplines.

This month, we continue  Building Connections With God and Others as we put emphasis on the socio-emotional and spiritual development of our students with the English language as the main vehicle.

The MS English Month activities include the following: Spelling Quiz Bee, Storytelling, Essay Writing and Speech Choir competitions. These activities do not only intend to provide distinct opportunities for our students to sharpen their reading, writing, speaking, listening and vocabulary skills; but also to enable them to acknowledge that being confident and competent in the language could help improve our relationship with God and others.

Also, kindly take note that  Issuance of the First Quarter Report Cards will be on September 8, 2018 at Calumpang Campus. This will be done right after the First CJPS Parenting Seminar. Please be advised that we will strictly follow the given schedule. Your child’s adviser will start to accommodate you and release your child’s report card right after the said seminar.

HIGH SCHOOL

With the theme: “Equality Through Literacy: Promoting Peace, Justice and Democracy,” English Month will once again feature English as the universal language.  This will be emphasized through various activities throughout the month of September that include English Quiz Bee, Poem Writing Contest, Speech Choir, Song Composition, Dramatic Monologue, Play Poem and Mural Painting Contest.  English Month aims to provide distinct opportunities for the students to sharpen their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills and at the same time to realize that enriching one’s language capabilities can also be fun!

On a different note, please be reminded of the 1st Parenting Seminar scheduled on September 8, 2018 from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm at the Calumpang Campus. Distribution of the First Quarter Report Cards will immediately follow the seminar and will end at 2:00 pm.  Please be advised that the given schedule will strictly be implemented and we expect your compliance on this matter.
